Professor and Dean
Dr. El-Mohandes is a pediatrician and public health scholar dedicated to public service. He specializes in reducing infant mortality in underserved populations and has conducted research both domestically and internationally. Since becoming Dean in 2013, he has transformed CUNY SPH into an independent school within CUNY, achieved full re-accreditation in 2016, and expanded academic offerings significantly. He served as Chair of the Association of Schools and Programs in Public Health Board and sits on the NYC Department of Health Advisory Council.
